What would you do today if you didn’t have to worry about how you’d feel tomorrow?
If pain has been limiting you from living life the way you want to;
Or you find it’s not as easy to do things as it used to be;
If you’re starting to believe the old lie that “everything goes downhill when you get older”;
Or you’ve been told this is just “what you should expect after having kids”….
Then you’re in the right place!
I’m Angela, and I’m a physical therapist specializing in myofascial release, Pilates Teacher, and Reiki Master. My passion is helping people feel GREAT so they can enjoy life. I believe in the power of Myofascial Release (MFR), Pilates, and Reiki to help you reach your goals. I’m over 50 and I wake up feeling great nearly every day. I can do all of the things I want to do and all of the things I have to do! Softball (even multi-game tournaments), hiking, biking, running, raking and shoveling.
Life’s more fun when you feel great. I believe in the possibility and potential for you to feel great too! There’s a lot of paths to get there, and the all take commitment and work. Sometimes the hardest part of a wellness journey is finding the best person to guide you along the way. The path I guide my clients on includes physical therapy specializing in Myofascial Release (MFR), Pilates, and Reiki.
We focus on your whole body because sometimes your pain or stiffness is really due to something going on elsewhere in your body. ( Treat the pain, look elsewhere for the cause). We focus on your whole being, because whats going on in your life impacts your ability to heal and participate in your own wellness work. That includes things like nutrition & hydration, sleep, activity, and the dynamics of your home and work life.
Myofascial Release
Myofascial Release (MFR) is a gentle yet effective manual treatment technique that gets you out of pain and moving with more ease by releasing restrictions in your fascial system. Your fascial system is like a fluid-filled web connecting E-V-E-R-Y-T-H-I-N-G in your body, from head to toe and from deep within to your outermost layers.
You’ve got a superficial layer of fascia under your skin, around each muscle and each muscle fiber and organ, down to every cell in your body! Imagine taking a roll of saran wrap and wrapping everything in your fridge individually – without tearing the saran wrap. Imagine if you pull something in the bottom right hand corner, you’ll see the effect al the way up to the top left corner???
Pilates
Pilates is a system of exercises devised by Joseph Pilates in the early 1900’s and can be summed up in this quote from the man himself, Joseph Pilates, from his book Return to Life:
“…the uniform development of our bodies as a whole – keeping all our organs as nearly as possible in their naturally normal condition so that we may not only be in a better position to earn our daily bread but also so that we may have sufficient vitality in reserve at night for the enjoyment of compensating pleasure and relaxation.”
Reiki
Reiki (ray-key) is a hands-on method of healing the body, mind, and spirit that is simple to do and easily integrated into everyday life. Defined by the National Institute of Health (NIH) as a Biofield therapies which is a “noninvasive therapy in which the practitioner works with a client’s biofield to stimulate healing responses.” Reiki can be used by a practitioner to heal others, but the heart of Reiki is self-treatment, and that’s why I love it so much for my clients and myself.
